Aussie Parrotlets recommend six-monthly worming of most pet parrotlets that are housed indoors with Moxidectin. This is due to the potential for exposure to contaminated matter (e.g. on leaves or even from floors inside the home).

Moxidectin treats and prevents a broad spectrum of worms in your bird(s). The active ingredient (1mg/ml moxidectin) is recommended to control the following internal parasites:

• round worm
• threadworm
• caecal worm
• gizzard worm
• tapeworm

For parrotlets being kept outdoors, around other animals that carry lice/mites, or that are going to be breeding, we instead recommend Moxidectin +T. This is due to the added potential for lice and mites.

Moxidectin directions for use:

Soft bills (e.g. finches)

• 5mls per litre of drinking water for a period of 24 hours. Repeat in 14 days.

OR

• direct to beak at a rate of 0.25ml / 500 grams body weight. Repeat in 14 days.

Hard bills (e.g. parrotlets)

• 10mls per litre of drinking water for a period of 24 hours. Repeat in 14 days.

OR

• direct to beak at a rate of 0.5ml / 500grams body weight. Repeat in 14 days.
